Wednesday, January 15

Good morning HAWKS FAMILIES.  This is Mrs. Sullivan, principal of Toisnot Middle School.  I wanted to make you aware that this morning we participated in a lockdown drill with law enforcement so that we could practice our safety procedures. I wanted to go ahead and call you to put your mind at ease in case you hear about the number of patrol cars that were here or before your child mentions this to you this afternoon. Again, this was only a drill.

I am so proud of the way our students listened and took the drill seriously. They did a wonderful job. The safety of our students and staff is one of our top priorities. I want to thank law enforcement for partnering with us to make sure we are prepared. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Make it a great day!

A message from TOISNOT MIDDLE SCHOOL

Good afternoon.  This is Mrs. Sullivan, principal of Toisnot Middle School.  I just wanted to make you aware of a situation that happened today. We had an incident where a student brought pepper spray to school and it was passed among students in a classroom. One of the students sprayed it not realizing the ramifications of doing so. We had to clear the students out of the classroom and called EMS to evaluate students. I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that pepper spray is not allowed on our campus and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken. It is possible your child might mention this to you today, and I just wanted to make sure you were informed.

Thank you.

Wednesday, Nov. 28

Good evening Hawks Families.  This is Mrs. Sullivan calling with an important safety announcement.  Our students should not be dropped off nor arrive on campus before 8:00 each morning.  We do not have supervision prior to 8:00.  If you need Before School Care, we do offer that.  You may contact Amy Deans at Central Office for more information.  Also, please do not drop off nor pick up students in the street on Corbett Avenue.  This is dangerous and we have asked that the Wilson PD monitor the situation.  The police department will be following up and may be issuing tickets for this.  We understand that people are in a hurry each day but please be aware that safety is a main priority. Finally, please encourage students who walk down Corbett Avenue to walk on the very side of the street.  Sometimes kids are playing and pushing and could get hurt.  Issues arise when students congregate at the store for long periods of time in the mornings and afternoons.  Please speak with students who walk about not loitering around the store.

Thank you for your help in maintaining a safe environment.
